Scones
Ingredients
- 2c flour
- 3T sugar
- 3t baking powder
- 1/2t baking soda
- 1/4t salt
- 6T cold unsalted butter
- 2/3c buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1T water
- 1T sugar (for the top)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F
- Blend dry ingredients
- Cut butter into small pieces. Knead into dry mix until it’s mealy
- Add buttermilk. Mix until just combined. Add any fruit/nuts late in this step.
- Shape into disk. Cut into wedges. Arrange wedges on baking pan.
- Beat egg with water, then brush onto scones. Sprinkle sugar overtop.
- Bake 10-12min.
